In these difficult days, in conditions when even the usual work is fraught with anxiety about health, the Terkom of the Metrostroy Trade Union has to radically change work in all areas of its activities, change forms of communication, and seek new approaches. This especially affects sports work, because sport is an active movement.
However, there is a sport that does not need stadiums and treadmills. Under the conditions of self-isolation, the Terkom of the Metrostroy Trade Union organized and held the first online chess tournament in the history of Mosmetrostroy.
We must admit that it was rather a training tournament. It was not easy to get together: part of the metro builders are working hard, maintaining the working rhythm of the capital.
The platform for the tournament was chosen online service Chess.com. Party rules in rapid chess - 5 minutes. We played on a circular system.
The tournament showed interesting results - Idar Enikeyev, a 29-year-old mine surveyor, who had never previously won prize money, came out on the 1st place, having squeezed the recognized chess leaders Yegor Shapiro (UMM, 2nd place) and Georgy Ilinykh (Terkom of the Trade Union, 3rd place) places in full-time competitions, but has been playing with online rivals for several years.
It is rightly said - from the meeting of old traditions and new technologies, a variety of new human interests is born. And this is right - for some it is more comfortable to play at a real board with wooden pieces and an opponent sitting opposite, for others the Internet is already a familiar and natural environment.
