The “Herrenknecht S-771” named “Elena” tunneling from a unique ditch in the direction of the Savelovskaya station of the Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow metro began.
For the first time, the tunnel boring complex starts from a round ditch with a diameter of 31,5 meters and a depth of 45,9 meters, located in the area of the Rigskaya overpass of the Third Ring Road.
The shield complex has a long underground path with a length of about 3,5 kilometers at a depth of 30 to 70 meters. He will lay the right tunnel under the five sections of the Moscow and October railways, the Third Ring Road, pass through Rzhevskaya and Sheremetyevskaya stations and finish in the breakdown chamber in front of Savelovskaya. The geological conditions along the route are medium-strength limestone, clay of solid consistency, marl and loam.
Earlier, “Elena” successfully passed distillation tunnels in the northeastern section of the BCL from the exit chamber behind the “Rubtsovskaya” station to “Aviamotornaya”, the right tunnel between “Ochakovo” and “Michurinsky Prospect” stations of the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line, the left exit tunnel of the exit chamber behind the station “Seligerskaya” of the Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line and the first stage from “Troparevo” to “Rumyantsevo” on the Sokolnicheskaya line.
